Classes are in full swing and I am stressed out! It is my last semester of college and I have more work now then I did my freshman year! All I do is read and read and read some more. Now don't get me wrong I love to read but reading a textbook isn't my idea of fun! So in order to relieve some of my stress I cook. Yep you heard me I love cooking, I have become obsessed with it and find myself looking at recipes online instead of doing my homework! I don't know what it is about cooking but it soothes me. I love the anticipation that I have when I am waiting for something to come out of the oven, and plus who doesn't love the smell of freshly baked homemade cookies! I haven't cooked anything in 2 days and I am already started to get antsy, although I went to the story this afternoon and bought the supplies to make a carrot cake for my wonderful roommate Georgina's birthday (even though I already made her a cake on Sunday). Hopefully I will find some time between school, work, crusade and the career fair to unwind, de-stress and bake!
We had our first snow in Raleigh this past weekend, although it was more ice than it was snow! It began early Friday night and continued through early Saturday afternoon. I love looking at God's beautiful creation in the snow, there is almost a fantasy element to the outdoors when a blanket of snow is on the ground. I didn't get to play in it though because I don't have any bibs here in Raleigh and I didn't want to go outside and get soaking wet, so I stayed inside and cooked all day and did no homework. I payed for it on Monday (classes were cancelled) because I spent the entire day reading, needless to say I am ready for Spring Break!
I am looking forward to this weekend, Georgina's boyfriend is coming up and Brandon and I are going on a double date with them to see the movie Dear John! And then Saturday morning, I get to catch up with my sweet friend Kara over breakfast and coffee. I am sure I will find some time to experiment in the kitchen and I will be sure to let you know how it goes!
God is so good and I am really enjoying the uncertainty of my life. Please pray for me as I try to figure out what to do after graduation! It is quickly approaching and I have no idea what I should do...although becoming a pastry chef is looking pretty appealing! Until we meet again!

Off to Neverland!
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and a happy new year! I had a wonderful and restful holiday but it went by so quickly! My mom and I were able to spend some quality time together in the kitchen along with the help of my wonderful grandma! I don't think I have ever cooked that much, we cooked for 17 people on Christmas Eve and it was a smash hit!
I also have recently become obsessed with cooking! I don't know what it is about cooking but I have been bitten by the cooking bug! I made three different batches of cookies and three pound cakes for Christmas, all homemade! Ever since I became interested in cooking my dad had been hounding me to cook him some homemade oatmeal raisin cookies. So I finally had all of the ingredients I needed and made some for him! They were a success, I even had a little fun tweaking the recipe to make it my own! Luckily I haven't had any "Miss Grace" moments in the kitchen! Now every cook knows how wonderful the kitchen aid stand mixers are and I had my eye on a green one! Well, I asked for it for Christmas and didn't get it but I thought well my birthday is coming up in February maybe mom and dad will get it for me then! But the day after New Years my mom, dad and I went to the mall and just stepped in Williams-Sonoma and low and behold they had the exact mixer on sale! So guess who bought it! I did! It was my Christmas present to me! I am so excited about it and I can't wait to put it to good use!
Today was the first day of classes which means it is my last first day as a college student! Ahhh...scary I know! I don't know where the time has gone. My time here at N.C. State has been absolutely wonderful and I wouldn't trade it for anything! Although I only had two classes today (Social Dance and Horticulture) I also had my first job interview, which went extremely well! Over the past few weeks I have been critiquing my resume and searching for jobs and I have come to realize that growing up is no fun. A large part of me just wants to join Peter, Wendy and Tinkerbell and fly off to Neverland and never grow up! I know that the Lord is going to do amazing things in my life and I have complete trust in Him but it is extremely scary to think that I will be a grown up in just a few short months! I can't wait to see what adventures I will experience this semester but I am looking forward to them!
Please pray for me as I am trying to figure out what the Lord has planned for my life. Pray that I keep an open mind. Also, pray that I would be able to enjoy these last few months as a college student and that I wouldn't get to caught up in planning for the future!
Check back in soon for more updates! God bless!

It's A Wonderful Life...
The past few weeks have been out of control with school coming to a close and preparing for finals, I am having trouble finding time to breathe! Never fear, everything is under control and a little chaos never hurt anybody now did it! I can't believe that my first semester of senior year is over, time really does fly when you're having fun. I thought I would catch everyone up to speed as to what has been happening in my life over the past few months so hang on tight you are in for one wild ride!
Between doing homework, leading a bible study, working and participating in all of the wonderful events that have taken place, I saw the fall semester of my senior year fly by! As the famous saying goes, "A picture is worth a thousand words" and I feel that posting pictures of my semester and the events that happened would better describe the adventures I went on then any words could, so I am proud to present the first semester of Emily's senior year in pictures!

So this is what we woke up too outside of our house on the first day of class!

My gang of friends at the annual Campus Crusade Barn Party!

The rooms and I at one of the football games!

Rooms and I before Semi-Formal!

My handsome date and I at dinner!

My crazy friend Mark and I

Best Friends!

Our handsome dates!

My beautiful Bible Study girls!

The life and the party!

So I have recently become obsessed with cooking and baking so here is the pumpkin pie that I made for Thanksgiving!

Our last football game where we beat Carolina!

Rooms and I with Santa and Mrs. Claus at the Cru Christmas party.

Brandon and I at the Cru Christmas party!

This describes our relationship perfectly!

Brain twin and I on our first hunting trip :)

First time hunting and I shot a deer!

So there is a funny store about this four wheeler and basically the gist of it is that Brandon could never get it started and my friend Sam, who so graciously set this hunting trip up, was stranded outside in the freezing cold waiting for Brandon to come pick him up! Haha!
So those are just a few of the adventures that I have had this semester! I am done with exams and will be venturing to Charlotte tomorrow to hang out with a pretty awesome family and then I will be homeward bound! I can't wait to see my mom, dad and brother on Sunday. I am looking forward to spending some quality time with them and I love our house at Christmas because it is absolutely beautiful, my mom is extremely talented when it comes to decorating and she missed her calling! I know my mom and I are going to have some great adventures in the kitchen as we prepare for our annual Christmas Eve dinner where my entire family comes to our house to celebrate Jesus' birthday :) I am so blessed to have a wonderful family and I am extremely thankful for them!
I hope Santa is good to everyone and I will be writing again soon! Thank you for all your prayers, God has been so good over the past few weeks and I wouldn't have been able to get through it without Him or your prayers!
Merry Christmas!!

Tale as Old as Time...
Welcome to my first blog post! I have always wanted to give people a peak into what a day in the life of Emily was like so here goes nothing!
Well, let me explain a little bit about myself and I think a good way of starting that off is by explaining the title of my blog! As some of you may know I am extremely close with my family and I love my parents very much. My mom is one of my best friends and I guess you could say that I am a daddy's girl. I guess I am a mix between both my parents, extremely bubbly and outgoing like my mom and a practical joker and a bookworm like my dad. When you get my dad and I together we are always acting like little kids and can rarely stop laughing. One thing that I did not get from either one of my parents is my clumsiness! I am always falling down steps, falling up steps, running into doors or other furniture, tripping (especially in the brickyard at State), or breaking things. So my dad, being the funny guy that he is, calls me Miss Grace and every time I do something clumsy he laughs and says "Miss Grace Strikes Again" so, I thought it was only fitting that I titled my blog this little saying.
Although, I am extremely clumsy I think it adds a little extra zing to my eccentric personality. I am a senior at NC State University and I love Jesus Christ with my entire heart and I am so thankful Him. I am extremely blessed with a wonderful family who I love very much. As I mentioned early my parents and I are extremely close, I don't know where I would be without there constant encouragement, support, and endless supply of love. I have a younger brother who is an excellent guitarist and I envy his passion and dedication to his art. I love to read, I find myself being torn between two worlds, a world of fiction and a world of reality. Books are comforting to me, I love being able to pick up a book and go on a whirlwind adventure with the characters in the book, it is amazing to me the treasures you can find in books. Fall is my favorite season I loving seeing the leaves turn colors, the smell burning firewood, and enjoying the crisp cool weather. Thanksgiving and Christmas are my favorite holidays because I love being able to spend quality time in the kitchen with the worlds greatest cook, which in my opinion is my mom. I believe laughter is the best medicine and you can never laugh or smile too much. The 60s are fascinating to me and I often feel that I should have been born in an early decade. I have a great appreciation for all types of music and I have to thank my dad for that. Growing up you never knew what was going to be playing on the radio or on his record player in the basement of our house. I love old movies, Beauty and the Beast, Casablanca, and Singin' in the Rain are three of the greatest ever created in my opinion. I love to dance, especially shag dance and there is nothing greater than shaggin' to beach music on a Thursday night with some of my closest friends. Disney World, Boone, NC and New York City are my favorite places in the entire world. I would give anything if I could go to Disney World every day if I could: walk down Main Street, USA, eat a Casey's Hotdog, travel through the greatest movies ever made on the Great Movie ride, take a ride on a run away elevator and encounter a Yeti in the Alps. I was given the opportunity to live in New York City for 5 weeks this summer telling art students, actors/actress and musicians about Jesus; it was the greatest summer of my life and I wish I was still there. I truly believe in the power of prayer and I am amazed at the love Christ has for us. Here at NCSU, I am involved with an on-campus ministry called Campus Crusade for Christ. I am extremely thankful for this organization because it has changed my life and my relationship with Jesus, and I strive to be like him everyday. I am graduating in May and I can't wait to see what kinds of whirlwind adventures I will get myself into but I know that the Lord has an amazing plan for me and I know he will guide me in the right direction!
Well, I hope you have enjoyed reading my first blog and will come back and check in every once in a while and see what kind of crazy and exciting things I have gotten myself into!
